Ordering & Process
What is required to place an order?
We need three things: approval of your quotation, confirmation of your specifications, and a 50% deposit. Production begins once all three are in place.
Do you hold stock?
No. Every Vogel Design piece is manufactured to order. This is what allows us to offer the full range of customisation options and maintain our quality standards.
Can I order a single item?
Yes. We're happy to make one piece or a hundred. Minimum order quantities don't generally apply — if you want one Nguni chair, we'll make you one.
Can I cancel or change my order after it's been placed?
As everything is made to order, changes or cancellations may not be possible once production has started. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to amend anything and we'll advise what options are available.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept EFT bank transfers as our primary payment method, plus other approved methods as advised at the time of ordering. A 50% deposit is required to commence production, with the balance due before delivery.
Lead Times & Delivery
What are your lead times?
Our current lead times are generally 8–10 weeks from receipt of a 50% deposit and final approval of specifications. Wall-mounted items typically have a shorter lead time of approximately 2–4 weeks. Lead times may vary depending on product type and order quantity — contact us for specifics.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We regularly supply products both locally and internationally — to the USA, UK, Europe, East Africa and beyond. We can deliver directly to your address or to a nominated freight forwarder. Delivery costs are quoted separately based on order size and destination.
How are delivery costs calculated?
Delivery is quoted separately and is based on product size, weight, destination and any specific delivery requirements. We're happy to provide a delivery quote once your order details are confirmed.
Customisation
Can your products be customised?
Yes — all of our pieces are manufactured to order and can generally be customised to suit your project. Options include dimensions, timber species, timber finishes, upholstery selections, powder-coated finishes and weaving colours.
What timber options are available?
We offer a range of species including Ash, American Walnut, Oak, Iroko, Kiaat and others depending on availability. We can provide timber and finish samples to assist with your selection.
Which timber is suitable for outdoor use?
For outdoor applications we generally recommend Iroko. No timber is completely maintenance-free when exposed to the elements — pieces will require periodic oiling and will naturally weather over time. Covered patios and sheltered areas will give the best long-term results.
Can I supply my own fabric or leather?
Yes. Customers are welcome to supply their own fabric or leather. Fabric requirements vary by product — we'll advise the required meterage once your selection is confirmed. For leather, we'll specify the number of hides required.
Can you manufacture custom designs?
Yes. In addition to our standard collection, we regularly collaborate with clients to develop fully custom furniture solutions. Project feasibility, quantities, materials and development requirements are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Can I request timber and finish samples?
Yes. We have a range of timber, stain, cord and upholstery samples available. We can courier samples to you (free within South Africa) or you can view them in person at our Cape Town showroom.
Showroom & Visits
Do you have a showroom?
Yes. Our showroom is at Unit 10 Island Park, 16 Auckland Street, Paarden Eiland, Cape Town 7405. It showcases a selection of our furniture and accessories, though not every piece from our collection is always on display.
Do I need an appointment to visit?
Walk-in visitors are welcome, but we recommend scheduling an appointment to ensure a team member is available to assist you and discuss your project properly. Contact us at info@vogeldesign.co.za to arrange a visit.
What are your showroom hours?
Monday to Thursday 09:00–16:00 and Friday 09:00–13:00, excluding public holidays. Appointments outside these hours may be accommodated by prior arrangement.
Can I see samples in person at the showroom?
Yes. We have timber, stain, cord and upholstery samples available at the showroom so you can compare options and make informed decisions before committing to a specification.
Trade & Commercial
Do you offer trade pricing?
Yes. We work closely with interior designers, architects, hospitality groups, developers and procurement companies. Contact us with your company details to discuss the most suitable pricing structure for your requirements.
Do you work with interior designers and architects?
Yes — this is a significant part of what we do. We regularly collaborate with designers, architects, decorators and developers on residential and commercial projects both locally and internationally.
Can you assist with large hospitality or commercial projects?
Yes. We have extensive experience supplying furniture for restaurants, hotels, lodges, resorts and offices. We've completed installations of 200+ chairs for single hospitality projects. Weekly production updates are provided on large orders.
Are your products suitable for commercial use?
Yes. Many of our pieces are specified for hospitality, restaurant, hotel and commercial environments. We can advise on the most suitable materials and finishes for your project's requirements.
Do you provide timber certificates?
Yes. Timber certificates and supporting documentation can be provided for applicable timber species upon request. Availability may vary depending on the timber source and project requirements.
Quality & Care
Are your products handmade?
Yes. All Vogel Design pieces are manufactured by skilled artisans using traditional craftsmanship techniques. As a result, minor variations in natural materials such as timber and leather should be expected — these are part of the character of each piece.
What warranty do you offer?
We stand behind the quality of our work. Warranty claims are assessed on a case-by-case basis. Coverage applies to manufacturing defects and workmanship issues under normal use. Natural timber movement, environmental wear, misuse and lack of maintenance are generally excluded.
How do I care for my timber furniture?
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and moisture. Clean with a soft damp cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners. Oil periodically with a quality timber oil. Woven seats can be spot cleaned with mild soap and a damp cloth. For leather weave, use a leather conditioner twice a year.
